A pair of high carat Egyptian gold earrings in the shape of a fly. 600-300 BC. Flys measure 1.75 cm. high. Made wearable with modern gold earring clips. The fly symbol was used at the end of the ancient Egyptian word for the insect itself, and to mean 'to fly'. Flies were also worn as protective amulets as well as symbolizing persistence: soldiers were awarded golden flies by the king as reward for heroic efforts in battle.
