An ancient bronze coin, minted in Judaea, struck by the second Roman Prefect Marcus Ambibulus under Augustus, and known as a prutah. The obverse features an ear of barley curved to right with the legend KAICAPOC. The reverse displays an eight-branched palm tree bearing two bunches of dates, with the date L-ΛΘ (Year 39, AD 8/9) across the field. Wear as consistent with age.
These bronze coins, known as prutah, were minted and distributed in Judaea under the government of the second Roman Prefect of Judaea, Marcus Ambivulus. Marcus Ambivulus succeeded Coponius in AD 9 and was succeeded by Annius Rufus in AD 12, under the Roman emperor Augustus.
