These Hackmanite specimens from Badakhshan, Afghanistan show strong tenebrescence, a very rare colour-change effect. Under UV light they turn a deep dark purple, and after exposure the colour slowly fades back to their normal daylight colour within 24 hours. This natural phenomenon is uncommon and highly valued among fluorescence collectors. In addition to tenebrescence, the pieces display bright pink–orange to red fluorescence under long-wave UV light. In daylight they show attractive purple–violet zoning on a pale matrix. All pieces are natural, untreated, and selected for strong UV reaction and colour-change performance.
