古埃及,晚期 蓝色瓷器 Pataikos护符 (没有保留价)

An Ancient Egyptian dark blue faience amulet of the dwarf god, Pataikos. The god appears to have large ears and a large bulbous nose. He stands nude, crouching with his legs apart on top of a square base, and his arms resting by his sides. The head is pierced for suspension. Earthly encrustations and signs of ageing such as loss of definition to the face. The Egyptians wore amulets alongside other pieces of jewellery. They were decorative, but also served a practical purpose, being considered to bestow power and protection upon the wearer. Many of the amulets have been found inside the wrappings of mummies, as they were used to prepare the deceased for the afterlife. Pataikos, or Ptaichos, was known as the son of Ptah, the craftsman's god. In Old Kingdom scenes depicting daily life, dwarfs were always present among the workers in precious metal workshops. The finest images of Pataikos date to the Third Intermediate period, and later Pataikos figures often held snakes, which made them harmless to people, especially vulnerable children. Pataikos was very popular from the New Kingdom onwards, providing protection from creatures like snakes and crocodiles. Measurements: L 1.5 cm X W O.6cm Provenance: Ex. early 20th century UK collection N.B. Delivery may be longer due to the busier period and we do not guarantee delivery before Christmas. Items paid for after the 19th December will be shipped after the New Year (week commencing on the 5th January 2026). **There will be an additional fee incurred for returned shipments due to buyer’s non-response to customs enquiries and/or unsuccessful delivery attempts.**
