古埃及,晚期 三件陶瓷护符——为来世的保护符 (没有保留价)

Group of Three Ancient Egyptian, Late Period Faience Amulets - Protective Charms for the Afterlife Circa 664-332 BC This nice group of three faience amulets comprises: a creamy white wedjat eye plaque with the eyebrow, cosmetic line and extended cheek in relief; a bright turquoise amulet of the god Shu shown frontally with legs together and both arms raised; and a small pale faience figure of Isis seating on an integral throne, wearing a tripartite wig and close fitting dress, cradling the infant Horus against her chest in a nursing pose. Egyptian faience is a non-clay, silica-based material widely used in pharaonic Egypt for the mass production of amulets. Made from ground quartz or sand with added alkali and lime, then coated or self-glazed during firing, it provided a durable, lustrous substitute for more costly stones while still evoking the colours of water, vegetation and lapis lazuli that were associated with life, regeneration and divine power. Its relative ease of moulding and firing meant that standardised forms, such as scarabs, wedjat eyes, djed pillars and figures of deities, could be produced in large numbers, making faience the principal material for protective amulets worn in life and sewn among the wrappings of the dead. Dimensions: 3 IN 1 SET UP TO 2 X 1 X 1g Provenance: Private European Collection; formerly acquired from old UK and European collection formed since the 1970s.
