The surface retains traces of original pigment, with red-ringed feather motifs across the wings and black colouration along the neck and head. The webbed feet are modelled in bronze. This pottery bird serves as a distinctive example of mingqi, a diverse array of objects, including representations of everyday life, animals, and other items placed in tombs to accompany the deceased in the afterlife.
