Ancient Chinese, Tang Dynasty Painted Terracotta Court Lady – Standing Attendant Holding an Offering Circa 7th-8th century AD A painted terracotta figure of a standing court lady modelled on an integral base. The long, columnar skirt falls straight to the ground, and the upper body is clothed in a close-fitting jacket with short sleeves and a rounded neckline. The hands are brought together at chest height to support a small offering. The head features a softly rounded face, almond-shaped eyes and a small mouth, framed by a high swept coiffure gathered into a topknot, traces of pigment marking the contrasting colours of the garments and facial details.
