DEP Space Age table lamp with AM radio, model MOD. DEP, produced in Italy during the 1960s–1970s. This original Italian design object is a representative example of Space Age aesthetics, combining a table lamp and an integrated AM long-wave radio in a compact and futuristic form. When closed, the lamp resembles a robot head, a visual language typical of experimental Italian design of the 1960s and early 1970s. The lamp features two light intensity levels regulated by the internal transformer. The lamp switches on correctly and the light functions as intended. The integrated AM long-wave radio powers on and the volume control works; however, it does not receive stations, which is common today due to the discontinuation of long-wave broadcasting in many countries. The lamp is made of plastic in a light sky-blue colour, a tone typical of Italian production from the 1960s–1970s. Dimensions are as follows: base 12 cm, depth 12 cm, height when closed approximately 19 cm, height when fully extended approximately 40 cm. The lamp is in good vintage condition overall. The plastic body is intact with no cracks or breaks. The external paint shows visible wear and deterioration consistent with age and use, as shown in the photos.
