Count Albert Apponyi, a member of a prominent Hungarian aristocratic family, requested a simplified and more elegant version of the Indian Basket design around 1930. The result was the Apponyi pattern, characterized by its central stylized flower motif and rich hand-painted detailing with luxurious gold accents. To this day, it remains one of Herend’s most beloved and collectible patterns.
