American Legion convention and delegate medals/badges, mostly from the 1930s. They’re not military bravery medals; they’re fraternal / veterans’ organisation memorabilia, New York State Convention Delegate Badge 1933 Text visible: “New York State Convention – Delegate – Binghamton 1933” What it is: A delegate badge given to someone officially representing a local American Legion post at the 1933 New York State Convention in Binghamton. The winged figure is a common Legion symbol of victory/liberty. Material: Usually brass or bronze with enamel centre and fabric ribbon. American Legion Annual Convention Brooklyn 1932 Medal Text visible: “Annual Convention Dept of N.Y. – Brooklyn N.Y. 1932” What it is: A New York Department annual convention medal. The skyline and bridge design represents Brooklyn / NYC. This is slightly more decorative than the delegate badge and tends to attract more interest. Material: Bronze or gilt brass, sometimes with light enamel 22nd National Convention Badge (Detroit) ext visible: “22nd National Convention – Detroit” What it is: A national-level American Legion convention badge. National conventions were bigger events than state ones, which helps desirability a bit. Detroit conventions were in the early 1940s, but the badge style here resembles late 1930s–early 40s production. Welcome Legionnaire” Button & Ribbon A welcome pin given to attendees or guests. American Legion Women’s Auxiliary – Delegate Blue Ribbon – Saratoga Springs, NY – 10th Annual Convention (Sept 4-6, 1930) What it is: Issued to a female delegate representing a local Auxiliary post. American Legion – “Alternate” Star Medal What it is: An Alternate Delegate badge. An alternate was a reserve representative who could vote if the main delegate was absent. The starburst design is classic Legion styling. Material: Gilt brass with blue enamel centre. American Legion – Cleveland Convention Badge (Art Deco Style) What it is: A city convention badge — Cleveland hosted several major conventions in the 1930s. The skyscraper / skyline Art-Deco design makes it visually appealing. Rare double sided medal Material: Bronze or gilt brass with enamel Legion emblem
