Val Saint Lambert - 杯具組 (8) - 服务 PONIATOWSKY - 90 毫升 - 水晶 - 1880年代至1900年代

Val Saint Lambert – “Poniatowski” Glasses Belgium, late 19th century – early 20th century Set of 8 glasses, 90 ml This refined set of eight crystal glasses belongs to the celebrated Poniatowski service by Val Saint Lambert, one of the most iconic and enduring glassware designs produced by the renowned Belgian crystal manufactory. Introduced in the second half of the 19th century, the Poniatowski model remained in production well into the early 20th century and is today regarded as a true classic of European cut crystal. The model is documented in the Val Saint Lambert Cristallerie catalogue of 1904–1905, where the complete service is illustrated, confirming its historical importance and long-standing popularity. Pieces from the Poniatowski service are also preserved in the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels, underscoring its museum-recognized status and cultural significance (see final reference photo). Each glass is crafted from fine crystal, entirely hand-blown and hand-cut. The design features the characteristic vertical cut panels forming a subtly flared bowl, paired with a faceted stem and a polygonal foot—an elegant and well-balanced composition typical of Val Saint Lambert’s late 19th-century production. Condition: Overall very good antique condition. A few glasses show very small chips to the underside of the foot (shown in the photos), consistent with careful use over more than a century and not affecting stability or visual appeal. Capacity: 90 ml per glass Quantity: Set of 8 glasses With their refined proportions and moderate capacity, these glasses are ideal for dessert wines, fortified wines (such as port or sherry), liqueurs, or as elegant table glasses for small servings. They are equally well suited for ceremonial or formal table settings, where historic crystal enhances the atmosphere. A highly collectible and historically documented ensemble, ideal for collectors of Val Saint Lambert crystal, museum-referenced tableware, or fine 19th-century European glass. Antique crystal glasses from the early 20th century are handmade, so small differences in weight, stem thickness or wall thickness and small imperfections are normal for that period. Val Saint Lambert, nestled in Seraing near Liège, Belgium, is a beacon of crystal craftsmanship with a legacy spanning nearly two centuries. Established in 1826 by chemist François Kemlin and engineer Auguste Lelièvre, the company transformed the remnants of the Val-Saint-Lambert Abbey into a thriving glassworks. The 19th century marked a period of significant growth for Val Saint Lambert. By the early 1900s, the company employed over 5,000 workers, producing 120,000 pieces of glass daily. Their creations, renowned for exceptional quality and intricate designs, found admirers worldwide, including in Tsarist Russia and North America. A testament to their artistry is the “Vase of the Nine Provinces,” a monumental piece over 2 meters tall and weighing 200 kilograms, crafted for the 1894 World Exhibition in Antwerp. The 20th century brought challenges, including the impacts of two World Wars and economic downturns. Despite these obstacles, Val Saint Lambert’s resilience ensured the preservation of its artisanal heritage. Today, the company seamlessly blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, producing exquisite crystal pieces that cater to modern aesthetics. Val Saint Lambert stands as a symbol of Belgian craftsmanship, where each piece reflects a harmonious blend of history, artistry, and innovation. Will be well packaged, protected and insured
