壺 (2) - 陶瓷 - Bummolo 恶棍
The bummolo malandrino (meaning "mischievous urn") owes its origins to the Arab domination of Sicily, and over time it has become a symbol of the island's rural culture. It was used to preserve and keep cool beverages such as water, wine, or oil, especially during the hot summer months. Its name derives from its unique structure, which allows it to be filled from the bottom and poured from the spout without spilling a drop. We present two: the small one (20 x 10 x h 16 cm, weight 700 g) features the very expression of a mischievous urn; the large one (20 x 13 x h 27 cm, weight 11,100 g) is decorated with lemons and leaves for a refreshing summer lemonade. Midcentury Italy, Sicily, excellent condition. In the last photo, which is not one of those for sale, you can see how it is made inside.
