Northwest Africa 17326 (NWA 17326). Purchased: 2024 Classification: HED achondrite (Diogenite, polymict) History: Reportedly found by meteorite hunters in February 2024 in the Erg Chech area, Algeria. Petrography (K. Metzler, IfP): Coarse-grained polymict achondritic breccia, consisting of mineral fragments and few lithic clasts, embedded in fine-grained related debris. Fragments mostly represent diogenitic pyroxene, intermingled with small amounts of eucritic lithologies (basalt clasts, eucritic breccia clasts). Accessories are a silica polymorph, Cr-spinel, and troilite. Diogenite component >90 vol%. Classification: Polymict diogenite (olivine-bearing), based on texture, mineral chemistry, occurrence of admixed eucrite clasts and high abundance (>90 vol%) of diogenitic components.
