A beautiful Meissen porcelain gravy boat in the Blue Onion pattern (Zwiebelmuster). The form is baroque-style with sculptural shaping throughout. The body is richly modeled with relief details, the handle is broad and ribbed, and the spout rises with decorative scroll work. The hand-painted blue decoration covers every surface and is exceptionally detailed. The base carries the underglaze blue crossed swords mark of the Meissen manufactory. Next to the swords is the painted number 39, indicating the year 1939. Also present are the incised form numbers 103Y and the number 45. No cancel strokes - first quality. The condition is beautiful.
