Superb and rare pair of authentic Art Deco period vases (circa 1930) made of fine earthenware. They feature a striking architectural stepped design ("skyscraper" / skyline style) typical of the era.
Thanks to their heavy, stable base and flat back, they are highly versatile and can be used as graphic vases or repurposed as high-end bookends.
Both pieces are covered with a magnificent high-gloss drip and flamed glaze, showcasing rich shades of blue-grey, turquoise, and brown-maroon streaks.
Origin: Belgium, Auguste Mouzin & Compagnie (AMC) manufactory in Wasmuël.
Markings: Each piece is impressed underneath with the intertwined Art Deco "AM" monogram and the model number "153".
Dimensions: Height: 22 cm | Width: 12 cm.
Style: Pure, geometric, and monumental Art Deco.
Condition: Very good overall condition. The ceramic is sound with no cracks. The glaze has retained all its original brilliance (minor signs of wear consistent with age, please see photos). A wonderful opportunity to acquire a complete and authentic pair.
