Aleksandr Andreevich Ivanov (July 28 (July 16 according to the Julian calendar) 1809 – July 15 (July 3) 1858) was a Russian Neoclassical painter. His most famous painting is a monumental work titled “Christ Appearing to the People” (The Appearance of the Messiah). From 1831 to 1858, Ivanov lived in Italy.
