This lot presents an antique large plaster sculpture Niño Jesús de cuna (Infant Jesus of the Crib) manufactured somewhere between 1920s-1930s by the workshop Casa Rosés from Barcelona - Spain. Inspired from the style adopted by Talleres de Olot, its creators used wood paste, a polychrome finish and glass eyes inserts. This particular example has a vibrant quality, an expression filled with excitement and well being, while other plaster figures examples give an obvious lifeless, dull and muted sensation. Despite the fragile nature of "pasta de madera" (wood paste), condition of the piece is very good, having only a small repair at the right hand, barely noticeable and visible only from certain angles. In a few isolated areas, very small parts from the surface paint layer have detached. The final paint layer is enhanced by a subtle dark patina, highlighting the antique nature of this religious figure. Its manufacturer signature stamp is visible on lower backside.
