The base is made of solid 800/1000 silver, hollow inside without weighting, and bears the official Austrian-Hungarian assay hallmarks alongside the famous master silversmith monogram "HR" for Hermann Ratzersdorfer (Vienna). Ratzersdorfer was one of the leading Viennese goldsmiths of the second half of the 19th century, internationally acclaimed for his museum-quality works combining precious mounts with crystal.
