This lot features a rare silver ducat from 1677, minted in the imperial city of Kampen. The silver ducat was a primary trade coin of the Dutch Republic, and this specific date from Kampen is classified in numismatic literature as very rare.

Obverse: Features a standing armored knight facing right, holding a sword over his shoulder. In front of the knight is the crowned city coat of arms of Kampen (the city gate) suspended from a ribbon. Legend: MO NO ARG CIVIT CAMPENSIS (New silver money of the city of Kampen).
Reverse: Displays the crowned Generaliteitswapen (the arms of the United Provinces featuring the lion with sword and bundle of arrows). The date 1677 is located at the top, split by the crown. Legend: CONCORDIA RES PARVAE CRESCVNT (Unity makes strength).
