The vintage frame forms an integral part of the composition, reinforcing the dialogue between artistic tradition and contemporary urban expression. As an original vintage frame, it retains very subtle signs of age and minor imperfections in some corners, barely perceptible and only noticeable upon close inspection, consistent with its vintage character and history. The artwork is individually signed on the reverse and accompanied by a physical certificate of authenticity. ⸻ ● “No Future” is a collage style artwork that confronts the idealised image of the American Dream with a more critical and disenchanted vision of the future. The scene, featuring a mother and child walking towards the iconic Las Vegas sign, initially presents a bright and seemingly hopeful landscape associated with desire, the promise of prosperity and the pursuit of a better life. Across this imagery appears a manual intervention created with paint marker and red paint, featuring the phrase “No Future” cutting aggressively through the composition. The spontaneous, thick and deliberately imperfect strokes, together with the dripping paint, introduce a language reminiscent of graffiti and street art, disrupting the nostalgic aesthetic of the original scene. The contrast between the seemingly innocent family scene, the symbol of Las Vegas and the statement “No Future creates a tension between hope and disillusionment. The artwork questions the idea that progress, consumption and economic success necessarily lead towards a better future, transforming a landscape associated with the American Dream into a visual statement of uncertainty. ⸻ ● About the Artist Nando López (Barcelona) is the founder of Dikhotomy, an artistic project dedicated to exploring how images change meaning when they are relocated into new cultural contexts. His work establishes connections between historical iconography, popular culture, everyday objects and visual memory, creating artworks that move between irony, visual appropriation and contemporary reinterpretation. Through limited edition prints, paintings, assemblages and object-based installations, he develops a visual universe in which the familiar appears altered, encouraging new perspectives on consumption, desire, identity and pop culture.
