Apple's most beautiful computer – the "Power Mac G4 CUBE" – is leaving my collection The G4 Cube is one of the most beautiful and special computers that Apple has ever made. Even Apple's flagstore in New York is based on this computer. It was therefore Steve Job's masterpiece. Because Apple (Macintosh) was not yet a mass brand in 2000 (back then, the Apple was mainly used by designers and creative people) – and because of the very steep price – the CUBE was a big stumbling block for potential buyers. The G4 Cube was introduced in 2000 and was withdrawn from the market "less than a year later", because too few were sold. What went wrong? The Power Mac G4 Cube succeeded in several respects. From a technical point of view, the Cube offers everything you as a user expect from a powerful computer. The Cube also has everything in terms of design: it looks nice and special. You would think that such a device would be a success in every way with the then-Apple-users. Fortunately for the collector, this device was not. Relatively few were sold, and that's why, the CUBE is become a true COLLECTOR'S ITEM and INVESTMENT. These rare Cubes are currently spending their aging years in collections. So, it is now or never. The computer has been cleaned inside & outside (dust-free). The monitor, keyboard and mouse have also been completely disassembled and professionally cleaned. See the dozen of pictures. // ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST & BATTERY ACID & SAVE SHIPMENT – DUST: the inside of a 20-year-old computer looks the same as "the collection-container of a vacuum cleaner" (read: a dust bunny). And as you know "dust" can ruin your electronics; – LEAKS: 20-year-old batteries will someday leak, causing irreversible damage to the computer. So, if "time and date" are not displayed correctly, you sadly will know what time it is; >> A NEW pram battery is placed (to maintain certain important system settings including the system clock & currently date). Long-Story Short. Computers from other vendors may look the same on the outside. I can guarantee you that the inside is very different! So if you want to enjoy your investment for as long as possible, choosing "wisely" is advisable. // GERM-FREE APPLE USB KEYBOARD & APPLE MOUSE The "iMac" comes with the accompanying Apple USB keyboard and the Apple Mouse. Those objects alone are already worth a fortune on auction websites. The keyboard is completely disassembled and cleaned professionally (see pictures). It looks brand-new! In my opinion it is my responsibility (as a seller) to provide a Germ-Free keyboard (a 2018 study found that 96% of the keyboards were contaminated with bacteria). So, I think we can agree that nobody wants a nasty, infected keyboard. // CUSTOMIZE YOUR SET-UP: ENGLISH or FRENCH KEYBOARD Choose an English or French keyboard! The computer, display and keyboard were disassembled and cleaned professionally (see pictures). // IMPORTANT NOTES – the computer works as it should (extensively tested!). Even the CD-player works (often this is not the case because a non-working cd/dvd is a well known-Cube-issue). Only "ejecting" needs some manual assistance. – There are NO cracks ( that is exceptional ! ). Most of the time the plastic breaks (especially near the screws). – The entire "interior" of the transparent plastic has been professionally cleaned so that it is dust-free and looks brand-new!; – A NEW pram battery is placed (to maintain certain important system settings including the system clock). – the TFT screen is clear. FYI: be aware that this type of monitor – after decades – has collected "dust particles" between the screen layers. Thus. There are dust particles in the TFT screen (see pictures). These particles are not disturbing (and rather "normal" on this type of vintage TFT's). Don't bid if you think that this will bother you. – The rubber on the external speakers is weared-out (also normal after some decades). But the speakers still work. However be careful to not touch the rubbers (or they will break). New (speaker) rubbers are to order on dedicated websites. To conclude. There are "normal signs of use" (which are to be expected with a device of this age). I would say this iMac is in "very good" to "excellent" condition. As to be expected, "the items" shows signs of "wear and tear", such as tiny scratches and scuffs > see pictures). View the numerous images to make your own judgment! Be aware that the mechanical hard drives of 20 years ago make more noice (compared to modern computers)!
