Meissen - Ludwig Zepner - 花瓶 (2) - 瓷器
Dear Bidders,
I'm offering here a beautiful set of 2 porcelain vases designed by Ludwig Zepner for Meissen Porzellan.
A pair of mid-century style porcelain vases in glossy white. Both feature a geometric relief pattern with raised square motifs, creating a textured surface. One vase has a tall cylindrical form, while the other combines a bulbous body with a slender, flared neck.
SOME GENERAL INFORMATIONS:
Meissen porcelain was developed in 1708 as the first European porcelain at the behest of Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony. In 1710, the “Royal Polish and Electoral Saxon Porcelain Manufactory” was founded. The cobalt blue “crossed swords” are considered “the oldest luxury trademark in the world still in continuous use. The first production site of Meissen porcelain was Albrechtsburg Castle in Meissen.
Ludwig Zepner (1931 - 2010) was a German porcelain designer and artist.
From 1948 to 1952, Zepner completed training at the Meissen manufactory in the areas of mold making, decorative painting, and modeling.
From 1952 to 1954, he studied at the Engineering School for Ceramics in Hermsdorf, and from 1954 to 1958 he studied design at the Berlin-Weißensee Academy of Art.
Until his retirement, he worked as a designer at the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory.
He also designed vessels for the Wallendorf Porcelain Manufactory.
Works designed by Zepner can be found, among others, in the Museum of Decorative Arts in Dresden and in the Dresden Porcelain Collection.
