Beautiful glass vase from the Gral glassworks in Dürnau with a ribbed design. This vase belongs to the Argentum series. Clear glass, intermediate layer decoration with powder/oxide embeddings. The base and the lip are plane grounded. Gral glassworks Dürnau produced glass for WMF and Cristallerie Daum, among others, from 1956 until the 1980s. Designed by Karl Wiedmann. His glass designs are characterized by rich coloration, marbled surfaces, iridescent effects, and high craftsmanship. The Argentum pieces are typically dated to the 1970:s period, when European studio glass was experimenting with color, form, and expression beyond strict functionalism. Like many studio glass objects of the period, Argentum vases may be unsigned but are attributed to Wiedmann by provenance and stylistic traits. The vase is in excellent condition.
