1978 Chateau Pontet-Canet - Pauillac 5ème Grand Cru Classé - 2 Flasker (0,75 L)

Château Pontet-Canet is one of the properties to have known only three families of owners! In the 18th century, Jean-François de Pontet, the king's great squire who became governor of the Médoc, undertook to gather several plots of land located in Pauillac in the place called Canet: thus began the adventure of the Pontet-Canet castle. A few years later, his descendants added the adjoining vineyards of the place called Canet. In 1855, Pontet-Canet obtained the classification of fifth classified cru of the Médoc. Herman Cruse, a merchant in Bordeaux, bought the property in 1865, built new cellars, modernized the facilities, and made this wine known all over the world. The lands of Château Pontet-Canet are located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, south of the neighboring vineyards of Mouton Rothschild. The terroir is gravely and sandy. The 81 ha of the Pontet-Canet vineyard see the preeminence of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety, which brings the structure. It represents more than 60% and it is mainly planted on the gravel that surrounds the castle. It is assembled with merlot (about 30%) which prefers clay-limestone soils by the river. A zest of cabernet franc and petit verdot provides an extra charm and complexity. which characterizes Pontet-Canet wines above all, it is their incredible purity of expression, both in terms of aromatic and texture. The conversion of the entire vineyard into biodynamics has a lot to do with it. The terroir is expressed perfectly, the vintage effect is not smoothed. The wines are of a rare elegance, while being dense, with charm, a superb grain, length and incredible energy. The 2 bottles come from a family cellar preserved in a wooden box and benefiting from good storage conditions. Labels in perfect condition Low neck level
