The subject of the box is the Troika (three-horse sleigh), a very popular subject and traditionally associated with the Fedoskino school, however, although the Troika is from Fedoskino, the style of the painting, the bright green, black outlines and the use of golden details on the decorative border bring it closer to the Palekh school or even to Mstera or Kholui. This creates a contradiction of style that combines popular themes with a decorative and bright style, which makes the piece even more interesting. Regarding its finish, the painting presents a fairly detailed execution in the faces and costumes, and the horses have great visual strength due to their red color.
