Extremely fine plaque pendant of blue faience with the facing head of Hathor, typical cow’s ears. Wide ridged suspension loop. Exquisite. Hathor was a major ancient Egyptian goddess of love, beauty, music, dance, joy, fertility, and motherhood, often depicted as a cow or a woman with cow's horns and a sun disk. She was known as the "Golden One" and patroness of women, associated with birth, pleasure, and prosperity.

Provenance: British private collection, acquired in a London auction prior to 2000.
