James Reid & Co., Coventry – Antique Silver Pocket Watch (c. late 19th / early 20th century)
Elegant English antique pocket watch by James Reid & Co., Coventry, a respected British watchmaker established in 1879, as stated on the dial.
The watch features a classic white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, outer minute track, and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The blued steel hands and balanced layout give the watch a refined Victorian/Edwardian character.
The case is crafted in solid silver, bearing clear British hallmarks on the inside of the case, including the maker’s mark J.R. & Co and silver purity stamps. The exterior shows a subtle engraved cartouche on the back, suitable for initials.
The movement is a mechanical hand-wound movement, visible in the images, with regulator marked F/S (Fast/Slow) and numbered 126851. The movement appears complete and well constructed, typical of quality English production of the period.
