The products of the Fritz Heckert Company (1866-1923) were long considered one of the leading manufacturers of art and decorative glass and achieved international success.
The glassworks was founded by Friedrich Wilhelm Heckert (1837-1887) in Petersdorf, Silesia. (Piechowice) The glassworks soon became very successful with its historicist decorative objects and became very popular in Germany and around the world. Then in 1889 the company started its own glass production in a newly founded factory. The product range included colored, oriental-style glass, iridescent glass and cameo glass and was further expanded with Art Nouveau glass. Designers such as Max Rate and Ludwig Sütterlin from Dresden took bold steps to promote the creation of unconventional shapes and color schemes. The company was finally taken over by Josephinenhütte in 1918.
