Go Go Koinobori (Boy) & (Girl) - Limited Editions 166/251 and 188/251 & Hand-Signed - 2009 - Kunio Kaneko 金子邦夫 (b 1949) - Japan (Ingen mindstepris)

We cannot ship to the USA due to suspension of the postal services from Malta. (Please read below). On offer are a pair of prints of Go Go Koinobori Boy (blue) and Girl (red). These prints are so strong visually when displayed as a pair. For this reason I decided to offer both together in one auction. Koinobori (鯉のぼり) are colorful, carp-shaped windsocks flown in Japan to celebrate Children's Day (Kodomo no Hi) on May 5th, symbolizing strength, courage, and perseverance for children, as carp famously swim upstream. Traditionally, a set includes a large black carp for the father, a red one for the mother, and smaller colorful ones for children, displayed on poles outside homes from April to early May as wishes for their healthy growth. These prints have never been framed and have always been stored in a dark place. They are in excellent condition. Due to the introduction of the import tariff system in 2025, Maltapost has suspended all postal services to the USA until further notice. If you live in the USA, you will need to give an alternative address outside of the USA for shipments. Otherwise, please refrain from bidding.
