The dial features a sophisticated vertical brushed silver finish that catches the light beautifully. It is adorned with multi-faceted polished steel block indices and sharp dauphine hands, providing excellent legibility. A distinctive feature of this reference is the separated day and date windows, with the full "Friday" day aperture at the 9 o'clock position and the date at 3 o'clock. The dial shows evident signs of aging on the dial where the finish has developed a some markings and separation from the edge. This peripheral wear creates a natural frame around the clear center, lending the watch a "wabi-sabi" aesthetic that speaks to its sixty-year history without obstructing the time-telling elements.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case measures a contemporary 37mm, giving it a significant wrist presence for a vintage dress watch. The design features thick, angular lugs and a smooth bezel that framing the crystal. Notably, this model utilizes a recessed crown at the 4 o'clock position, a signature design choice of the Seikomatic line intended to emphasize the automatic winding capability, as manual winding was deemed unnecessary. The case shows surface scratches and marks consistent with decades of use. The caseback proudly displays the Seiko dolphin emblem and water-proof manufacturing markings, which remain visible despite wear.
Movement
Powering this timepiece is the robust Seiko Caliber 6206 automatic movement. This 26-jewel mechanism features a gold-toned rotor and is equipped with Seiko's Diashock protection system. The movement presents well visually, clean and free of heavy corrosion, offering reliable vintage performance and the smooth sweep characteristic of quality mechanical Seiko calibers.

The watch has been fitted with a new black leather strap with an alligator grain pattern. The strap offers a classic dress watch look that complements the silver tones of the dial and steel case, making it ready for immediate wear.

This timepiece is in fair vintage condition. It is an honest survivor that has not been over-polished, retaining its original case lines. The movement is running within vintage tolerances.
Dimensions
With a case diameter of 37 mm excluding the crown, the watch sits prominently on the wrist, appearing larger than many standard 34mm-35mm watches from the same period due to the bezel design and dial openness.
Remarks
This Seikomatic 6206-8010 is a charming example of the "Weekdater" style layouts that became iconic in the 1960s. While it carries the scars of time on its dial perimeter, it retains a strong mechanical heart and the elegant geometry that makes vintage Seikos highly covetable.
History
The Seikomatic line, introduced in the early 1960s, was Seiko's effort to popularize the automatic watch for the everyday professional. It served as the upper-mid-range tier, sitting just below the Grand Seiko and King Seiko lines, and often shared movement architecture with those higher-end pieces. The 6206 reference is historically significant as it helped establish the 62-series architecture which would later evolve into the movement used in the first automatic Grand Seiko, the 62GS. Produced in July 1965, this specific watch dates to the height of Seiko's mechanical innovation period.
