Vase - Bronze - Japan - Takaoka bronze (Ingen mindstepris)

This is a traditional Takaoka bronze flower vase from Japan, crafted using time-honored metalworking techniques for which the Takaoka region is renowned. The vase features a well-balanced, classical silhouette with a gently flared neck and a rounded body, giving it both stability and elegance. Around the central band, finely cast relief motifs of auspicious animals—notably a crane in flight and a tortoise with flowing tail—are depicted. In Japanese culture, these motifs symbolize longevity, good fortune, and harmony, making this piece not only decorative but also deeply meaningful. The surface shows a rich, natural patina developed over time, with warm reddish-brown tones contrasted by darker oxidized areas and a subtly textured band. This aging enhances the character of the bronze and reflects authentic Japanese aesthetic values such as wabi-sabi. The vase can be appreciated both as a functional flower vessel and as a sculptural art object suitable for interior display. Artist / Maker Information This vase was produced in Takaoka, a historic metalworking center in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. Takaoka bronzeware has been crafted since the early Edo period (17th century, Western calendar) and is internationally respected for its casting quality and refined finishing techniques.
