Sicura - Ingen mindstepris - Cal. EB 8800 - Mænd - 1970-1979

An uncommon 1970s Sicura dress watch featuring the rare bark/textured bezel treatment that was briefly popular during this era. This distinctive case finishing was more expensive to produce and sold in smaller numbers than standard smooth-bezel models, making survivors genuinely scarce today. Sicura was a Swiss watchmaking powerhouse throughout the 1960s and 70s. Under Ernest Schneider's leadership from 1959, the company grew to produce over one million watches annually across four factories with 450 employees—far larger than many prestigious Swiss names of the period. When Breitling collapsed during the quartz crisis and closed its doors in 1978, it was Schneider and Sicura who rescued the brand, acquiring the Breitling name and Navitimer rights in April 1979. The Sicura brand was gradually phased out over the following years as Schneider focused on rebuilding Breitling, with Montres Sicura SA officially becoming Breitling AG in 1993. The watch features a striking blue sunburst dial with warm rose gold-tone applied indices and hands, creating an appealing colorway that photographs beautifully and wears well. The 17-jewel manual-wind movement is running and keeping time. The bark bezel finish mirrors similar textured case treatments seen on higher-end Swiss watches of the 1970s from brands like Omega and Tudor. This finishing has seen renewed collector interest as vintage 1970s aesthetics have come back into fashion. Condition reflects honest vintage wear: some plating loss on case edges and back lugs, light crystal scratches, but the dial remains intact with no damage or discoloration. Inside, the EB 8800 movement is relatively clean and runs smoothly, keeping good time. Overall, a distinctive piece in a very contemporary size for collectors of 1970s design, unusual case finishes, or a taste of the brand that saved Breitling. Supplied with blue textured leather strap - aftermarket but in period-correct style. No box or papers. Case size: 38mm excluding crown Lug-to-lug; 42mm Thickness: 11.6mm Lug width: 20mm Strap length: 19cm total *** Cyan Collectibles is collector-run and based in Singapore.
All watches are carefully and securely packed before being shipped, insured and tracked.
For the standard shipping fee charged, most watches will be shipped by global courier FedEx or its equivalent. In rare instances when this is not possible, shipping will be international registered parcel post with limited tracking.

Do note that your country of residence may impose customs and import duties.
Handling charges levied by couriers for customs processing - usually minor - will be the responsibility of the buyer. Shipments to the US have become increasingly problematic and slow following the Trump administration’s uneven application of new import restrictions. Expect delays and additional shipping costs. Please examine the photos before bidding, as they form an integral part of the description. Any defects not mentioned but visible in the pictures will be considered as described.
