Herbie Yamaguchi - London after the Dream - 1985

London after the Dream Herbie Yamaguchi Ryukotsushin/1985/Japanese/230*280*15 Harvey Yamaguchi, one of Japan's leading photographers, presents his collection ‘London after the Dream’. Born in Tokyo in 1950, he moved to England after graduating from Tokyo Keizai University in 1973. During this period, he joined the experimental art troupe “Red Buddha,” led by musician Tsutomu Yamashita, performing as a supporting actor in approximately 100 shows over a year. From the mid-70s, he joined the British photography group “Quality of Life,” holding exhibitions in the UK and France while also photographing the burgeoning rock and punk music scenes there. He shared lodgings with an unknown Boy George during his early days and became the only Japanese photographer granted access to capture Boy's private moments. In the 80s, recognized by Takeo Kikuchi of Men's Bigi, Harvie returned to Japan and became active in the world of fashion and commercial photography. This, however, is his debut work published by Ryuko Tsushin, featuring plates taken in London during the early 70s.
