Chinese white nephrite jade dragon belt hook, top! -China- 20th Century On offer is a rare Chinese white nephrite jade Chilong belt hook of remarkable long size, carved with a dragon head terminal and with a chilong on the shaft. The top carved in openwork and undercut with a chilong crawling towards the dragon head hook, grasping a lingzhi branch in his mouth. The detailed Chimera or dragon head terminal has bulging eyes and carved facing. The underside of the shaft has a flat button. The jade has a beautiful glossy finish and good translucence and feels therefore soft on the touch. Very hard to find and offered with no reserve price! Has been identified as nephrite jade by measuring thermal conductivity and hardness and translucency. Also checked with UV light; which indicates a natural color.
