Copper or Silver Alloy Open Bracelet 19th / Early 20th Century (Ingen mindstepris)

Himalayan Region (Nepal) – Copper or Silver Alloy Open Bracelet – 19th / Early 20th Century ________________________________________ Authentic ethnographic open bracelet originating from the Himalayan region, most likely Nepal, and dating to the 19th to early 20th century. Bracelets of this type were worn as personal adornment and also functioned as indicators of status and identity within local communities. The bracelet is formed as a thick open ring with overlapping terminals. The terminals are subtly engraved with linear and geometric motifs, executed by hand. The body is smoothly finished and shows evidence of casting followed by manual shaping and refinement. When handled, the bracelet produces a slightly hollow sound, indicating a hollow or partially hollow construction. Combined with the weight and surface characteristics, this confirms the object is made from a copper-based or Silver alloy. The surface displays a naturally developed patina with consistent wear and minor surface marks, all in keeping with age and long-term use. The restrained decoration and solid construction are characteristic of traditional Himalayan metalwork. ________________________________________ Details • Region: Himalayan region, likely Nepal • Material: Copper or Silver alloy • Type: Ethnographic open bracelet / bangle • Period: 19th – early 20th century • Diameter: approx. 110 mm • Weight: approx. 258 g • Condition: Good; original patina and wear consistent with age
