This object belongs to the category of arm ring money, a traditional form of pre-colonial currency used as a store of value, ceremonial payment and bridewealth. The bracelet is massive and open, with a diameter of approximately 11 cm and a substantial weight of 765 grams. It is cast in a copper alloy and features a segmented construction with a central hinge, allowing limited movement but clearly not intended for comfortable wear. The surface is decorated with engraved geometric bands and stamped circular “eye” motifs, characteristic of West–Central African metal currencies. The flattened terminal ends are functional rather than decorative and distinguish this object clearly from jewellery.
