Vintage Very Rare Seiko Automatic Watch/ Pogue 6139-6002 The watch is a rare find for any Seiko watch fan and collector – the original ref. 6139-6002 Pogue. The model is known as the first automatic chronograph in space as it was worn worn in 1973 by the American astronaut William R. Pogue, during his flight on the Skylab 4 mission. As the story goes – while training, Pogue needed a chronograph, but the Omega Speedmasters was not yet available, so he bought himself a Seiko 6139-6002 in order to time his exercises and tests. He ended keeping it during his mission and thus making it the first automatic chronograph to go to space. The Seiko features a distinctive yellow sunburst dial with one minute register at 6 o’clock, a day-date complication at 3 o’clock, a white inner bezel, adjustable via the crown, all of that housed in a rather big case – measuring 40.9 mm and 46.3 mm lug-to-lug and topped with a pepsi (red-blue) bezel with a tachymeter.
