Medieval Bronze Ring – AD 10th to 14th Century – 25 × 20 mm – 8.27 g
This solid medieval ring is crafted from a copper-based bronze alloy and features a robust circular bezel engraved with a linear geometric motif arranged in a cross-like pattern. Such abstract and symmetrical designs are characteristic of medieval decorative language, often carrying symbolic or protective meaning rather than heraldic identification. The ring’s proportions and weight suggest it was intended as a functional yet symbolic personal object, possibly worn daily.
The band is thick and sturdy, tapering slightly toward the underside, indicating careful shaping and prolonged use. The engraved lines show confident execution with hand tools, and the surface displays a stable, dark patina consistent with long-term burial and age. Minor surface wear and smoothing of edges are entirely coherent with medieval use and handling.
