Punkt 108. Islamisk Bronze Ring - Middelalderen 10.-14. århundrede e.Kr. (Ingen mindstepris)

Medieval Bronze Ring with Geometric Intaglio – AD 1000 to 1400 – 19 mm height / 12 mm internal diameter – 3.48 g This well-preserved medieval bronze ring features a circular bezel finely engraved with geometric motifs, likely serving as a personal seal or symbol of identity during the High to Late Middle Ages. The intaglio patterns, composed of triangles, lines, and curvilinear elements, are precisely carved and arranged in concentric bands, displaying both aesthetic intention and functionality. The flat bezel and slightly thickened band suggest it was designed for practical daily use, perhaps by a merchant or artisan. Its compact size and clear incised design indicate it may have been used to press into wax or clay, affirming the wearer’s identity or authority. The patina and surface corrosion are consistent with extended burial, but the piece remains structurally intact and legible. • Material: Bronze • Dimensions: 19 mm (height) / 12 mm (internal diameter) • Weight: 3.48 g • Date: ca. AD 1000–1400 • Condition: Very good condition, with original patina, some minor edge losses and burial encrustation. A functional and symbolic artifact from the medieval period, bearing traces of personal history and social identity. Provenance: Acquired from an auction house in 2025, previously owned by a collector from the South of Germany, acquired in the 1980s.
