THE STORY BEHIND
The objective of Pleiades is to make a proposal that brings into play the element of figurative creation from ambiguous elements such as the stars. This exercise has been carried out since the beginning of time, when primitive men, observing the starry sky, joined the stars to form figures and traced drawings, creating constellations. Pleiades shows a figurative interpretation of seven different constellations created from the cluster of stars called Pleiades or The Seven Sisters. The Pleiades were seven sisters from Greek mythology, daughters of the titan Atlas and the sea nymph Pleione. As a result, in the set of constellations formed by the mythological nude, the self-portrait of the artist reflected in the work itself, becomes part of this mythological story and related to its protagonists who, being several sisters are, in essence, the same figure. A plurality of constellations and figures that make up a single one.
