SCENE-0628 - Kitano Toshimi - Japan (Ingen mindstepris)

SCENE-0628 |Kitano Toshimi 北野敏美(きたのとしみ) This work titled “SCENE-0628” is a copperplate print by Kitano Toshimi. Kitano Toshimi’s works emphasize the unique textures and gradations that can only be expressed through printmaking techniques. With themes such as “aspects of corrosion” and “remembered everyday life,” familiar daily scenes are layered with geometric forms and patterns to create a new spatial depth. This work is primarily executed as a copperplate print, and partially incorporates “Ganpi-zuri” using Japanese paper, adding an additional dimension to the composition. The print is hand signed in pencil and numbered 21/40. It is printed on German Hahnemühle paper. --- Artist Profile Kitano Toshimi was born in Nagano Prefecture in 1951. In 1985, he undertook training at the University of Tsukuba Graduate School. In 1992, he received the Agency for Cultural Affairs Excellent Art Work Purchase Prize. In 1993, he received the Excellence Award at the 13th Japan-France Contemporary Art Exhibition and two additional French-side awards. In 1996, he was awarded the Honorary Medal at the 9th International Print Triennial in Łódź, Poland.
