Skelettdarstellung. Diese sogenannte Darstellung ist ein bekanntes Motiv der Inuit-Kunst und findet sich besonders bei Schnitzarbeiten aus Alaska, Nordkanada und Grönland. Gefertigt aus dichtem, fein poliertem Material, vermutlich Walross (Odobenus rosmarus). Die Augen sind mit dunklen Einlagen gearbeitet. Leichte altersbedingte Patina. Datierung: 20. Jahrhundert. This so-called “X-ray” representation is a well-known element in Inuit art and is particularly found in carvings from Alaska, Northern Canada, and Greenland. Carved from dense, finely polished material, most likely walrus ivory (Odobenus rosmarus). The eyes are inlaid with dark material. Light age-related patina.
