→5.8cm long Basilosaurus canine teeth It is a very nice ~40 million year old Basilosaurus canine teeth with excellent coloration ,tip, enamel and overall condition. The teeth reveals complex mix of coloration as well as fossilization. Here on one side of crown of the teeth one can see many small white lines while on the other side they are missing. These white lines are made due to interaction plant roots which interacts with the fossil over million of years. At the bottom of the teeth one can see a presence of a small white layer. This layer is either left over layer of jaw bone or its the outer layer of the teeth. In either case, the teeth serves as an excellent specimen of different fossilization mechanisms in action. The teeth has been professionally conserved to make it long lasting All in all, its a nice specimen of Basilosaurus which rules the shallow seas in Late Eocene Epoch, roughly 40 to 34 million years ago. It is important to mention that its hard to distinguish the teeth so its possible that this canine belong to other Basilosauridae member like Durodon for example.
