Inspired by the layered atmospheres and turbulent formations of Jupiter, the Giove series emerges from an intimate dialogue between pressure, sedimentation, and time. Each piece feels less constructed than unearthed — like a mineral fragment shaped slowly by forces larger than itself.

Entirely hand-built through a traditional coiling technique, these vessels are created using reclaimed stoneware clays gathered from the studio’s own material remnants. Black, white, and brown clay bodies are repeatedly layered, compressed, folded, and reworked by hand until the surface begins to reveal its own internal geography. The marbled stratifications are not painted nor artificially applied: they exist within the clay itself, exposed gradually through carving and sanding.

The making process is intentionally slow and deeply tactile. Hands move through damp earth, dust, weight, and friction — embracing irregularity, density, and the unpredictable reactions born during firing. Every mark records a physical interaction with raw matter. No industrial moulds, no glaze masking, no surface simulation. Only clay in transformation.

Left unglazed to preserve its porous mineral skin, Giove carries a quiet roughness that invites proximity. The surface absorbs light rather than reflecting it, revealing subtle shifts, scars, and sediment-like movements that change throughout the daylight.

More than a vessel, Giove exists as a contemplative object — suspended between sculpture, geology, and memory. Designed for collectors and interiors that value material honesty, slow craftsmanship, and the emotional presence of handmade work. Not watertight.
