An expressive and finely detailed Ashanti (Asante) Kuduo vessel cast in bronze/brass alloy, dating from the mid-to-late 20th century. Originating from Ghana, these ritual containers were historically used to store gold dust, valuables, and offerings. They served as a symbolic home for the owner’s kra (life force). The lid features an elaborate narrative scene showcasing a high-ranking chieftain or king seated on a traditional stool, surrounded by a court assembly of four traditional musicians. The figures are rendered in the distinctive geometric, elongated style characteristic of Akan metal arts. The lower body of the container is intricately decorated with incised linear and geometric motifs. Crafted using the traditional lost-wax casting technique (cire perdue), this vessel is a unique piece of African art. Specifications Object: Lidded Kuduo Vessel / Gold Dust Container.
