This sculpture was produced in an incredibly tight edition of just 8 copies. Unlike prints or larger digital editions that frequently circulate, finding a physical 1980s Horn multiple on the open market is a rare event.

The influential visual artist and filmmaker Rebecca Horn was from Michelstadt, Germany. Born in 1944, she was a pioneering figure in performance and installation art, globally celebrated for her kinetic sculptures and wearable body modifications.

Throughout her career, her work was prominently featured in more than 100 major global exhibitions and she maintained close ties to international art scenes, living and working in cities like Paris and Berlin. The Gold Plated Spoons in Bronze is part of a series of sculptures made with bronze containing something "precious" which is trapped within it.

The contrast between heavy, earthbound bronze and the radiant, divine luster of gold plating represents alchemy and transformation—core themes of her entire career.
