Produced by brands such as Primax and Roline in Taiwan, these heavy-gauge metal switch boxes permitted hardware sharing before the widespread adoption of digital network protocols and automated KVM architecture. The inclusion of powered video distribution units like the Roline VS-104 VGA Separator enabled synchronised multi-monitor video signal duplication across CRT display arrays.
