Omega Genève Automatic — Cal. 565 — Ref. 166.041 — Tropical Brown/Purple Dial

A truly exceptional vintage Omega Genève with an extraordinary original tropical dial

Offered here is a beautiful Omega Genève Automatic, reference 166.041, powered by the highly regarded Omega Calibre 565 automatic movement.

What makes this particular example stand out is its exceptional original tropical dial. The dial has developed a remarkable natural brown-to-purple tropical patina, with warm bronze and violet tones that change beautifully depending on the light. The patina is completely unique and gives this watch an unmistakable vintage character.

The dial retains its original Omega applied logo, applied baton markers, original Genève lettering and framed date window. The aging is particularly attractive and authentic, rather than looking artificially distressed.

The watch is fitted with its original-style 20-micron gold-plated case, with stainless-steel caseback, as confirmed by the original case markings. The gold-plated surfaces remain very attractive, with natural signs of age and use consistent with a vintage watch of this period.

Inside is the famous Omega Calibre 565, one of Omega’s renowned 550-series automatic movements. The movement is clean and visually attractive, and the watch is currently running and functioning well.

Condition

The watch presents beautifully for its age.

The dial is the highlight of this piece, displaying exceptional natural tropical aging with brown, bronze and purple tones. This is the kind of patina that makes vintage watches individual and impossible to reproduce exactly.

The case and bracelet show normal signs of age and previous wear. Please study all photographs carefully; they form an integral part of the description.

The movement is currently running well and the watch functions properly. As with any vintage mechanical watch, the service history is unknown unless specifically stated. Accuracy and power reserve may vary depending on the watch’s position, condition and age.

Why this watch is special

The Omega Genève was created as one of Omega’s more accessible collections, but the watches were still equipped with genuine Omega mechanical movements and Swiss manufacturing. The Calibre 565 became particularly well known for its robust automatic construction and practical quick-set date mechanism.

This example is considerably more interesting visually than an ordinary Genève because of its natural tropical dial transformation. The combination of the deep brown/purplish dial, gold-tone case and vintage bracelet creates a very distinctive 1960s aesthetic.

A genuine one-of-a-kind vintage appearance — particularly suited to collectors who appreciate original aging and patina rather than perfect modern-looking restoration.

Disclaimer

Please examine all photos carefully, as they form part of the description. Professional lighting, macro photography, camera lenses, and viewing angles may reveal or conceal details differently than they appear to the naked eye. While any major defects will be disclosed whenever identified, minor signs of age, scratches, wear, or patina may not always be individually mentioned in the description. These are normal characteristics of vintage, pre-owned watches and should be expected.

All watches are in working condition at the time of listing unless otherwise stated; however, the service history is generally unknown. For mechanical watches, an overhaul by the buyer’s trusted watchmaker is recommended for optimal accuracy and daily use.

No water-resistance guarantee is provided, and the watch should be kept away from water.

The watch will be securely shipped from Antalya, Türkiye via DHL Express (1–3 business days). The seller strives to provide the fastest and most cost-effective shipping service possible.

Import duties, VAT, and customs charges, if applicable, are the buyer’s responsibility.
