This necklace is composed of approximately sixty-five ancient glass beads originating from the Gallo-Roman-Celtic world and dating to the 1st–3rd century A.D. It represents a fine example of personal adornment from the northwestern provinces of the Roman Empire, where indigenous Celtic traditions continued alongside Roman craftsmanship, trade, and fashion.

The Gallo-Roman-Celtic cultural sphere encompassed much of present-day France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and parts of the Netherlands and Germany. Following the Roman conquest, local populations retained many traditional customs while participating in the economic and cultural life of the Roman Empire. Jewellery from this period reflects this unique fusion, combining native Celtic tastes with Roman materials, manufacturing techniques, and artistic influences.
