About the painting:
This colorful painting shows an elegant woman sitting in an armchair with a cat on her lap. The woman sits upright and looks directly at the viewer. She has dark, short hair in a 1920s style, fair skin, and striking blue eyes. She is wearing a bright yellow dress decorated with large, green floral patterns and orange dots. A long, dark pearl necklace is draped around her neck. A black-and-white cat (tuxedo cat) rests on her lap, gently held by the woman's hands. The cat also looks straight ahead. The woman is seated in a large, upholstered wingback chair in a vibrant orange, which creates a strong contrast with the blue background. The wall behind the armchair is divided into light blue and yellow color fields. A small, framed picture showing a simple green branch hangs in the upper left corner. Next to the armchair stands a large, white-and-blue ceramic vase with a floral pattern. A green houseplant with large leaves grows out of the vase. The visible floor area at the bottom is painted in a deep, rich dark blue. The artwork is created in the style of Modern Art or Fauvism. It features flat shapes, clear contours, and an extremely vibrant, high-contrast color palette (using complementary contrasts like orange/blue and yellow/violet-blue). The overall mood is calm, decorative, and expressive.
About the artist:
My name is Corina Madalina Schröder. I was born in Timisoara, Romania, in 1969 and grew up in the Satu Mare region (Transylvania). I came to Germany at the age of 43. I lived and worked there in Bad Säckingen am Rhein until 2023. The direct proximity to the Swiss border, the central location in Europe and the diversity of the people there gave me many creative influences and so I painted in a very modern and lively way and was able to present my pictures in many exhibitions. (including Germany, Belgium, Italy and Switzerland).
In June 2023 I moved with my husband to beautiful, sunny Spain, to Benijófar, south of Alicante. Here, strongly influenced by the wonderful sea, the great light, the friendliness of the people and the Mediterranean atmosphere, my passion for painting received new impulses.
I love painting. Even as a child, I was fascinated by using pens and brushes. I always went forward courageously, learned a lot and my artistic talent was born into me through my mother, who was a painter and art teacher. So I started not only painting but also creating all sorts of things. Be it sewing, knitting and modeling with clay. I love individual design and today especially expressive painting.
Especially in today's fast-paced times, where people are quick to evaluate and harshly comment, I find it particularly important to be able to calmly and calmly indulge in the joy of one's own creativity. Without “right or wrong” but just completely ME...
Since the beginning, my works have been exhibited in several german and international exhibitions, art salons and galleries, such as: Brugge, Madrid, Venice, Bucarest, Basel, London, Paris etc...
